[Communicational Grammar & Vocabulary]
Grammar will be taught using a combination of focused reading, explanation, and applied exercises. Home-
work assigned on a daily basis from the workbook.

[Effective Reading]
Various in-class activities such as: outlining cause and effect, summarization, sequencing, scanning, etc.
encourage students to write personal responses to the reading. Read a short story every month.

[English Communication]
Communication drills, dictation exercises, games, oral activities and modeled dialogues. Small class maximizes
chances to talk and correction.
[Global Issues & Presentation]
Dealing with updated news and issues. Refine and improve English through direct feedback from teacher.
[Listening & Pronunciation]
Enhance these skills through recordings of daily news and sitcom. Practice learning through the assignments
based on the recordings.

ESL program Before I came here, I couldn’t speak anything in English, but now, after some study, I can understand and speak with people [in English]. It’s amazing because I really improved my [English] skills each month. Here in UMC, I can find teachers who are very nice and professional. They can teach us how to learn English by using methods easily to understand. I had great time in Toronto, in UMC, and I hope one day I will come back here and meet the people who work in this wonderful school. I really like here.

ESL program To study at UMC was a great experience for learning English and it was very important and thankful that UMC provided support to students from CCBE. Now I am very happy because thanks to UMC and great teachers, my English improved a lot.
