This program is a combination of EAP and ENG4U, intended to prepare high-level students for University.

Students who successfully complete IEP-UPP program can enter Cape Breton University through affiliated institute

of UMC.

EAP: English for Academic Purposes - This is an intensive introduction to academic  skills required for
success in speaking English. Student will improve their  writing and speaking skills by assessing arguments
 in written assignments and  through classroom discussion.

ENG4U: English for Gr. 12 (University Prep) - This course emphasizes the consolidation of the  literacy, 
communication, and critical and creative thinking skills necessary  for success in academic and daily life. 
Students will analyze a range of  challenging literary texts; interpret and evaluate informational and graphic  
texts; and create oral, written, and media texts in a variety of forms. An  important focus will be on using 
academic language coherently and confidently
